I am one of the many descendants of this couple. Family tradition and Ferris Crum's book "A Crum Family in America" have John's birth as "abt 1760 in Germany", and his death date is definitely recorded as 25 Dec 1820 (drowned in Ohio River nr New Albany, IN). Recently I've seen his birth date listed in several places as "11 Nov 1740" (see, for example, GENDEX: John Crum). I haven't been able to track down the source of this new date, which seems incongruent with other of John's biographical data (for example, he would have to have been 80 years old at the birth of his last child - not impossible, but... ). Does anyone out there know where the 11/11/1740 date comes from?
