Crowns of Hancock, Washington Co., MD
Looking for information of the family of S(amuel) Curtis Crown who resided in Hancock, Washington County, Maryland, where he was a clerk in a store. He was born in Frederick Co., MD, on 5 July 1832 and died in Hancock, MD, on 8 March 1915.He was the second son of Frederick and Henrietta Thomas Crown of Frederick and Washington Counties, MD.Married twice, his second wife was Mary E. Oliver, 1851-1928 (interested in finding a date of marriage for them), and the names and dates for their children, if they had any. With his first wife, Elizabeth Ann (Annie) Bready whom he married 9 May 1857 in Frederick County, MD, he had children: Henrietta, 12 in 1870; William Curtis, b 21 July 1860 and died 17 May 1887; George Frederick, b 26 Jan 1863 and died 7 Jun 1889 (S. Curtis, Mary Oliver Crown, William C. and George F. Crown are buried at the Presbyterian Church Graveyard, Main St. in Hancock, MD); Ellen, 3 in 1870 and Josephine, 6 months in 1870.There are also two children buried with Annie Bready Crown at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, MD: Mary Josephine, b 3 Oct 1865 and died 17 July 1867; and an unnamed baby born and died in 1872.Annie Bready Crown died 6 April 1872, age 34 years.
I believe that William and George died without marrying and having children as they are buried with their father and step-mother.I am really interested in Henrietta, Ellen and Josephine, who they married and whether or not they stayed in the Washington County area.
