We are looking for information about my husband's great-grandfather, William CROWLEY, 1806-1848?.
William was enlisted at age 34 in the U.S. Army by Lt. Westcott at Ft. # 15 on June 23, 1840.The official army record states that he was born in Middlesex, England, and his occupation was "soldier."He served as a private at Buffalo Barracks, NY, and he was discharged at the expiration of his first enlistment on June 20, 1845, at which time he re-enlisted for a second hitch.We found this information through contact with the webmaster for the Buffalo Barracks Internet site.
