Hi Dick
I assume you are the same Dick Crowley from Peterborough, Ontario, who visited my office in Cork about five or six years ago. It was fascinating to meet you. My subsequent inquiries have convinced me that our families are related but it goes back a very long time.
According to the Robinson records all of your family came from east and north east county Cork. So did mine. I have traced my Great-great-grandfather's grave (died 1878) to a very antient burial ground in Templeboden, a place between Midleton and Fermoy. There are 3 headstones placed close together at one largish plot. The adjoining headstone is for John Crowley died 1789 (I think). He must be my G-G-G-G-G grand father assuming 30 years to a generation. I have records of the family on a certain farm going back to 1810. My cousins still own this farm.
Most Crowleys are from West Cork and do not seem to be connected to our people, at least not for 300 years. Some day when I get the time I will do some more digging.
Good to see you are alive and well.
Jack
