Hello Tammy,

I'm not sure if this will help. I think Frances Crist in the 1880 census is probably a Smade and the census taker got some of the family relationships wrong. That's my guess.

I have a Chester Crowl, son of Buel Crowl and Maria Worth. Chester was born on 12 Jan 1830. He married Asenath Smades in 1852 in Jackson Co, MI. Their children, based on census records, are:
Harriet M. (b. 1855)
William H. (b. 1859)
Lena A. (b. 1869)
John (b. 1871)

Chester died before the 1880 census.

Glo

I am related to Buel Crowl through his daughter Lodena (sister of Chester) who married William Henry Harrison Roberts.
