Crowell of England, NJ, Halifax Co.,NC

In my notes I ran across an article in the Newton, NC Enterprise Mar. 15, 1879....Which talks of members of the Crowell family in Halifax co., NC claiming direct descent from the father of Oliver Cromwell. In 1674, two brothers, John and Edward Cromwell, broyhers of Oliver, left England and settled in NJ. Later they moved to what is now Halifax Co., NC. The brothers fearing persecution from Charles II followers, they resolved to change their name. The article goes on about the tradition. This is a wonderful tradition and could be of use to someone. I'm no relation, but stumbled on this item.
