John CROWE, Immigrant to Yarmouth, MA c. 1638

Does anyone know of recent research concerning John CROWE (later CROWELL), original grantholder of Yarmouth, Mass., who arrived in Charlestown 1635 and Yarmouth 1638? Materials I have found suggest he came from the parish of Carleton Rode in Norfolk, England. I have looked at the parish registers there and found them practically illegible--and written in Latin!--and I was not able to find the name Crowe or Crowell. Did he come from Norfolk? Does anyone know what ship he came on? What information is out there about his origins?
