Trying to contact RAY CROWELL who has posted messages on this forum or other persons with information on SOPHIA CROWELL who married BURRELL (BURWELL) PERRY.

He shows that their eldest son was CALVIN PERRY (b.ca. 1838)
but the will of WILLIAM TARVER, made 9-15-1848, recorded 10-22-1849, Wilson Co., TN, shows that CALVIN PERRY was a grandson of TARVER. He is listed in the same clause with "daughters MALINDA AVERY, MARTHA ANN RIGGAN, LUCINDA TARVER, MARY SUSAN KITTRELL, and CALVIN PERRY." The grand- father also states that "grandson CALVIN PERRY is to have the horse he rode to Smith County."

The Tarver daughter, who was mother of CALVIN, obviously died young leaving this only son. So if CALVIN's father was indeed BURRELL (BURWELL) PERRY, then the marriage to SOPHIA had to occur after the TARVER daughter's death.

Also MITCHELL PERRY was guardian of CALVIN PERRY.

This MITCHELL PERRY bought 40 acres of land on Spring Creek in Wilson Co.,TN,from PATRICK YOUREE, {DB P, 11-16-1832, p. 366]. Youree was the second husband of CELIA TARVER, a sister of WILLIAM TARVER.

WILLIAM TARVER also deeded 42 acres on Barton's Creek in Wilson Co., TN, to MITCHELL PERRY. [DB R,8-8-1837, p. 286f]
PERRY deeded this 42 acres to MARY SUSAN KITTRELL, one of the daughters o WILLIAM TARVER. [DB Z, 12-10-1853, p. 488f.]

I also think that the son of CALVIN PERRY and HETTIE AMANDA EWING named WILLIAM TRAVIS PERRY (b.ca. 1874, TX) was actually WILLIAM TARVER PERRY, as their eldest son was named TRAVIS MITCHELL PERRY.

Bob
