Hello, Meredith,

We would be very happy to have your participation in our CROWL/CROWELL DNA study. We are with Family Tree DNA. If you have already signed up under the CROWE study, you will be able to be in both studies. I recommend being in both, because if you are from the Crowells of English extraction, we are pretty confident our name came from England as Crow/Crowe/Cro.

If you are of the families who descend from John and Yelverton Crowe/ll, then you won't need the Cromwell study! (The old story about the Crowe/lls being originally Cromwells, tossing the "M" overboard on the way over, etc. etc. etc., is just a myth!)

Please let me know if you have any questions about the DNA study. I assume from your name that you are female - we females do not have the Y DNA that these studies measures and you will want to find a male of the Crowell name to submit his sample. It is very simple, not too expensive (beginning at $100), and measures are taken to protect your private information.

Andrea Crowell
