In reply to Robin's theory, It's easy to see we have plenty of Ed,Sr's and Ed,Jr's. We will have to start using II, III, and IV to keep everything straight. Yes, Edward, Sr listed as living in NJ is Ed,Sr., his son Ed, Jr would be Ed II and a young child when Ed,Sr died in 1688. When Mary left Woodbridge I lost trace of them. Info I have states that all their children were born in MA, before moving to Woodbridge. When Ed, Sr, died all children were young. The youngest abt 3-4 yrs old and the oldest abt a teenager. This is were Iost trace of them. Among these children is Ed,Jr (II). I've recieved e-mail that as they grew older they began showing up in NY and other parts of NJ. Now, for the info I have in NC. 1st, I do not have the Piscataway/Woodbrige document - but I don't question your info. John wrote his will in 1760 - so he had been there long enough to have some possessions - his will mentioned his wife Elizabeth (-), 3 sons and one dau., and some slaves. And the plantation he called "Manner". He is not listed in the 1790 census of Halifax. He states in his will that he is in Edgecombe parish of Halifax. I've not located that part of the census. So I don't have a listing with his name in 1790. I don't have his d.o.b., but if as you indicate it is 1709, then he would be age 51 when he wrote his will. The info, that I've been needing is between 1688 (death of Ed.Sr, in NJ) and 1760 (when John wrote his will) and he states he is the brother of Ed,Sr (III), that is listed in the 1790 census of Halifax. One more Ed. In the 1790 census, Ed, Jr (IV) is listed as a head of household, and is also listed in Ed,Sr (III)'s will. But I've not found any information about Ed (IV). No will, no children, no wife. But he is listed in 1790 census. I can not comment on The Family Tree you mentioned, and the names used in that tree. I have no information. It does appear that you very well could be showing a connection between Ed,Sr's children in NJ and the two brothers that are wrote a will in Halifax. I must say "appear", since I'm not in a position or qualified to evaluate the two ref. you mention. That is, "ThePiscataway/Woodbridge Document and the Crowell Family Tree". I have neither document, if I did have, I'm not that knowledgable of all the Crowell History. There are many more people better qualified than I (or is it me?). At any rate you are presenting a very good explaination. Hopefully, someone on line will carefully study this approach, and be able to make a determination.
