David,
Since my last posting, I have come up with a theory about the Edward Sr. and how he went to North Carolina. It is only a theory, and I am not even sure if this is what you are looking for but here you go.

1. Edward Sr. who married Mary Lathrop had the following children: Mary, unnamed child, Yelverton, Benjamin, Bathshua, Joseph, Edward Jr.*

2. Edward Jr. who married Sarah Veil, Elizabeth Pike, and Christian Brown had the following children: Elizabeth, Samuel, Edward III*, John *, Mary, Sarah, Joseph, Thomas, Katherine, James, Annabel, Agnes.

---Edward III, b. 3/18/1715 and died 1792 married Martha Raburn.
---John b. 10/25/1709

In the same Piscataway/Woodbridge document it is stated in a list of Edward Jr's children that "John b. Oct. 25, 1709 removed to North Carolina".

If I remember correctly, the Edward who was in North Carolina had married Martha Raburn. The John in question seems to be Edward Jr's son.

Next--
In a Crowell Family Tree that was given to my cousin ( who has done most of this research) It is listed that Edward (III) was married to Martha Rabun and "moved to Halifax Co. North Carolina after 1776 with Fitz-Randolph ( this is the surname of Sarah Veil's mother). Edward III and Martha had a son George b. ca 1755 d.- ca 1862. George had son George (NC) who married Sarah Gillespie. They had Jennings (1807) who married Ann Reid. They had Rosetta b. 1834 who married Martin Luther in 1856.

If this is the connection that I think you are looking for, I believe that Edward III and his brother John were the two brothers who came to Halifax Co from New Jersey. If they are the "Edward and John", they are not connected to Cromwell at least as far back as 1634. They did not come over on a boat from England and drop the "M" because they were both born in New Jersey.

Well, I hope this helps. If you can, please let me know what you think, and if it corresponds with information that you have.

Thanks,
Robin
