Hi! I'm not sure of the spelling change. I am a Kreiter descendent, and I was told by my grandparents that the name was changed at some point, but no one is sure what it was changed from, or even if it ever was changed. I am descended through Henry William Kreiter, his son Daniel Kreiter, his son Frederick William Kreiter, and his daughter Jacqueline Marie Kreiter Artlip (my grandmother). Henry's wife was Mary Ann Shafer, Daniel's wife was Margaret Ann Gladhill, and Frederick's wife was Kathleen Genevieve Waldron. Do any of these names look familiar to you? I will ask my grandparents if the name Crowder sounds familiar.

Meredith
