I am descended from Nelson Crowder and Susannah Cogdell/Cogdill through their daughter Permelia, married Hugh Barnes Teel. The information in our family is also that she was a Cogdell; said to be Indian (part?), spoke an Indian language and her grandchildren were frightened of her. This information came to me from her gr-granddaughter. One of my cousins was working on the family history several years ago, and she thought Susannah was the daughter of Frederick and Catherine Cogdill. So far I haven't been able to find evidence that proves this.
