I am a great-great grandson of Ellen R. Crowder Fite. She was born in 1867 in Dallas Co., Ark. the daughter of William A. Crowder and his first wife Mary Olivia Hurley. Ellen married Nathaniel P. Fite and had two children before her death in 1891-2. She is buried in the Crowder family cemetery in Dallas Co., Ark. Her two children were Mary Evelyn Fite and George Fite. Mary Evelyn was my great grandmother, b. 1886 Ivy, Dallas Co., Ark., married Edward D. Riggan in 1904, had 6 children and moved to Okanogan Co., Washington in 1946 with entire family. She died in Brewster, WA in 1963 at the age of 77. Her brother, George Fite, moved to Ellis Co., TX in the early 1900's and married Della Wadley there. He died in the early 1960's in Dallas, TX where his daughters, Frances Fite Merriot and Mary Evelyn Fite still live.
The Crowders of Dallas Co., Ark. all descend from Richard A. Crowder and his wife Elizabeth Adams of Wake Co., NC. Anyone who has information on the Hurley family of Dallas Co., Ark., please contact me. Thanks.
