From the research my aunt did, it looks like William (1776) was born in NC. Roane CO. tax lists show him there in 1817-1821. Goodspeed's History of Tennessee syas that around 1835, William moved to Hamilton County, TN and settled near Ooltewah. Son, John, born in 1809 in NC was living in Roane Co. in 1850 (Census records). His Children were:
William S. (age 17 according to 1850 census records)
George L. age 15
John E. age 10
Amelia J. age 7
Susannah K. age 5
Horace A. age 2
Anderson Hobbs Crowder, born in NC around 1814, died Nov. 3, 1834 in Roane Co. Tenn. He married Ann Kountz (born Dec. 24, 1834, died in 1890.
Children of Anderson Hobbs and Ann Crowder:
Malinda Caroline born Dec. 15, 1835, Died April 13, 1906
Nancy born Dec. 20, 1837, d July 21, 1879
Sarah born 9/25/1841, d 2/18/1843
James Monroe born 2/20/1844 d 5/25/1916
Franklin born 12/6/1845 d 12/29/1846
Margaret A. born 7/5/1848 d. 8/31/1927
Horace born ?, d 6/1/1862
John William born 10/6/1851 d 5/30/1927
Mary Alice born1854 died 1872
I don't know the father of William (1776)
