Crowder Family Genealogy Forum

I was researching the marriage of Sallie Crowder and Peter Daniel, III, and I saw someone say that on the marriage record it said her father was "Theo", and her mother was Mary S.Vaughan. I looked at the index of Va to see if there was a name that would have been "Theo" and I saw the name Theophilus. I hope this helps you in your search for your relatives. Sometimes we have to read between the lines and search and search. I have been stuck on my Crowder for a long time now. I search everyday. If you get a chance to read the 5 Crowder Brothers theory on the forum, then you can see how long Patricia Crowder Yaw has been searching and I do believe that her Berry Crowder and my Abel Crowder were brothers. The search has led a lot of our relatives to the book "Related Families of Botetourt Co Va" and the Guenther, Kreider, Crider, Crowder theory. They were of German background. A lot of us have the family history saying we came from England, and were Scots Irish. Patricia has the story from her father that there were 5 Crowder Brothers named Carruthers who came from England and were Scots Irish. He told her a story of a George Crowder that was executed (hung) and she has found documentation for that story. We are searching and are getting very close to being able to put the whole story together of these Crowder Brothers. We just need for all of the Crowders to pull together and look at their genealogies and make sure that they are connecting with the right Crowders. We have to remember that these 5 Crowder Brothers came to U.S. in about 1760. Most Crowders are trying to connect with the Crowders who have been in U.S.
since early 1700's or even before. Anyway, lots of luck in your search. Ruth Ann Crowder Coffman
