I found reference to James A. Crowder married Amanda C. Armontrout on December 16, 1853 in Alleghany County, VA. Married by J.W. Boteler. This was listed in the book Alleghany County Marriages 1822-1854. This is the only Crowder marriage listed. It is possible that this could be the parents of your James. Hope this helps.
