Misty, you and I are cousins.You may have seen my posts on this forum already and gathered some information.My grandmother remembered Uncle Jim and Aunt Mamie Bell fondly.You state the lineage correctly in your last post--
Luther-->son of
Mamie Bell England and James Yancey Crow--->son of
Mary Elizabeth Gillum and George Washington Crow-->son of
Jeanette Cash and Isaac Crow--->son of
Frances (?) and William Crow--->son of
Grace Denson and James Crow (lots of info on them online)
With regard to the women in our family---I don't know too much about the Englands but I think you may find them in Blount County at one time.There are some buried at New Hope near George Crow.
Mary Elizabeth Gillum was the daughter of Yancey Thornton Gillum and his wife, Catherine Mize.Yancey was the son of Harris and Jane Gillum.Catherine was the daughter of Sterling and Nancy A. Belcher Mize....all of these settled in Tallapoosa County, AL, coming over from GA.
Can also give you info on Cash and Lanier lines.Ken and Wayne Crowe are closer relatives of yours than I am.They were doing research a few years ago also.With regard to the "e" added to the end in your branch--I was told that your James Yancey added it in his branch (his father did not use it) and that in turn some of the children of his brother William Wesley Crow used the "e" as well.My grandmother was born a Crow, daughter of Henry Winston Crow (younger brother of James Yancey and William Wesley) and our branch is e-less!Let me know if I can be helpful to you.Steve Strickland
