To both Lynette & Joanne:I am very interested in both your postings!Lynette, I think that my husband's gr-gr-grandmother--Mary Liva Crow Tryon--was a sister to the David Crow of Iowa that you mentioned.I have quite a bit of information and a picture of his first wife's grave, who is also a relative of my husband's through a different line.We would be very interested to know if you have any information on David's father, John A. Crow.Several Crow descendents are trying to match him with a John Adkinson Crow.We know that John A. Crow's wife Milcah Belt is buried at a cemetery at Vinton, IA, beside the grave of David's first wife, Arbella Kinkead Crow. (We live in IA and have visited the cemetery at Vinton) We think John A. died in 1894 but have no record of where. He had lived for a number of years with David so wonder if he could have died in Gosper Co., NE.How much research have you done on this line?By which wife was Rosa's mother? We have him being married 4 times, the last to Harriet Hardesty.
Joanne:I was also very interested in your James Nelson Crow. I was searching for the Nelson Crow who is listed in the 1900 census in Washington State, Lewis Co, PeEll Precinct.I am sure it is the same one as you listed as James Nelson Crow--born in IA the same year, 1856--wife Martha (listed as Feb 1860, born in Iowa). The reason that I was interested is if you know the parents, etc., of James Nelson Crow?Mary Liva Crow Tryon went to Washington State between 1885 (when she was listed in a census here in Iowa) and 1890 when she bought land in Lewis Co, PeEll Precinct. She had only 2 living daughters and they never went to WA.We have wondered what led her there and began searching for the Crows in WA...and found Nelson listed in the 1900 in the very same precinct. We don't know what happened to her husband, Jesse Tryon III, as he wasn't in the 1885 census in Iowa. Then in the 1890s she sold half her land to him and they both sold their share in about 1900.When she recorded the deed a couple years later, she was in KS in the same county as her one daughters and it listed her as a single woman?Had Jesse died??? They separated????She was back in Iowa in 1903 to my husband's grandparents wedding but she ended up back in WA and died in Lewis Co in 1918, having lived in the "poor house."We just wonder what led her back there???Was Nelson a cousin????
We have contact with several Crow descendents and have pictures of the area in PeEll precinct where Mary Liva owned the land and also where she is buried although is in an unmarked grave.(visted there in 1999).We are willing to share them. Also could share an interesting story about how we found Milcah's stone plus lots of other stories. We also have a picture of John A. Crow that a cousin from CA emailed us.
