Descendants of Andreas Crouthamel

Anna Belle and others...

Friday (7 Nov 2008) I had the opportunity to visit the Tohickon Church and the Bucks County Historical Society's library in Doylestown.

While there I reviewed the current (2005) edition of "Descendants of Andreas Crouthamel" which is now a several volume set of books totaling over 6 inches of paper.

Some information I transcribed from the books:

This book printed September 2005

President, Ralph S. Crouthamel, Telford, PA
Vice President, Diane Crouthamel, Allentown, PA
Second Vice President, Valeria Urffer, Macungie, PA
Secretary, Joyce Eisenhart, Richlandtown, PA
History Book Co-ordinator, Reuben Strawn, Telford, PA

No additional contact information was given.

In the new format, the first couple pages in each volume is the same, giving Andreas, his children, and his grandchildren's information. Then, the separate volumes continue with information on the descendants of the grandchildren.

According to my personal research, I've found that I am a descendant of Andreas, but my ancestor is omitted in the older listing which was the basis for your great posting, Anna Belle. In the current (2005) book, she is shown as a child of Henry (b 1750), when, as far as I can determine, she is his sister.

In the 2005 edition, she is shown as "Dorothea Elizabeth Crouthamel was born on 17 Mar 1751, died on 1 Nov 1826 at age 75, and was buried in Franklin Township, PA."

I had determined her name was Elizabeth Dian Crouthamel, born 17 Mar 1751 (before Andreas and Henry immigrated), and I have similar death information.

According to the records of the Tohickon church, she married a later immigrant, Johannes Greiss:

Marriages by Rev. John Egidius Hecker, 1755-1761

26 Oct                     John Greiss and Elizabeth Krouthammel

These folks eventually moved to western Pennsylvania, changed the spelling of their family name to Creese, and eventually one of their descendants was me. There were Lamberts, Thomases and other families that were others among my ancestors.

In any case, it appears to me that the 2005 Crouthamel book has Dorothea Elizabeth instead of Elizabeth Dian, and it does not show her marriage to John and their descendants.

Ideas, suggestions...
