According to the death certificate of John Crouse, his parents were Jacob Crouse and Kathimir Minch. I believe Kathimir stands for Catherine. Is that correct? My grandmother sent me a letter which listed his brothers and sisters and their families and they all are listed in the 1850, 1860 and 1880 census under Jacob Crouse and Catherine Crouse in Scioto County Ohio. I wrote for land records in Scioto County Ohio and they mentioned that Jacob had land previously in Pike County Ohio. I was then able to find their marriage and his Declaration of Intent in which he stated he was renouncing all allegiance to the King of Bavaria. It was dated October 1841. On the census sheets, they listed BAden or Prussia as their country of origin. I have since been told that it was probably Rhineland Pfaltz. Does that sound logical? If any one has more information on Jacob Crouse or Catherine Minich, I would appreciate it.
