Hi There!

I am a direct descendant, thru my mother, of the Jonathan CROUCH of Bath County, KY. I have him born ca 1792. He was actually Jonathan Jr, as his father was Jonathan Sr. My records indicate that Jonathan Jr was born in Bath County KY and his father, Jonathan Sr. was born in VA, probably Augusta County. Jonathan Jr is my 3 greats grandfather, I am descended from him through his son Jospeh, Joseph's son William, William's son Chrisopher, Christopher's son Carl, Carl's daughter, Leona (my mother). Jonathan Jr.'s son, Joseph, moved his family from Bath County KY to Ralls County MO (near Hannibal) in 1823 and then to Montgomery County MO in 1836, where they remained until the early 1900s. From there, most of them went either to St. Louis, MO or Bowling Green, MO (Pike COunty). Jonathan Jr was married to Emily THORPE and Jonathan Sr was married to Hannah WELLS. She may have been the daughter of Phineas WELLS, but we have not yet proven that. Jonathan Jr's brother, my Jospeh CROUCH, was married to Nancy E. (Ellen?) MURIE.

Another possibuility for you is that a number of the CROUCH families from Bath County KY and Bourbon County KY in the late 1700s and early 1800s moved to Lincoln County, MO, which is between Ralls County and Montgomery County (it borders the Mississippi River, north of St. Louis).

Hope this helps a little bit. I have quite a bit of info on the Bath County KY CROUCHes, particularly the Joseph CROUCH line. Good luck!

Alan D. David
