John- I know that this is an old post........hoping you are still on here.
I am descended from Shadrach Crane, born Virginia. There is a strong tie between Crane, Crouch, and Wood, but I have hit a blank wall with Shadrach. He was married 3 times,unless Polly is a nickname for Moning.
1st - Moning Wood
2nd - Polly
3rd - Sally Plank in La Porte Co Indiana.
I assume that Polly my ancestor died in Virginia before 1832, when he and the children are in Indiana, Elkhart Co., and La Porte Co.
I have a lot of info on Shadrach and the children but very little in Virginia. Does he appear anywhere in your research? I think he moved to Indiana following a brother, but the 1930 census only says Jno Crane, and then Jno disappears. Possibly "John"?
