Carter H. Witt was b. in Todd Co. KY 1829, son of Robert and Elizabeth (Gorrell or Garrell) Witt. Robertwas b. 1801 KY and d. 1878 MO, son of Robert and Nancy (Reese) Witt. This Robert was from Bedford Co., VA, son of Lewis and Ann (Mills) Witt. Carter's second wife, Martha Ellen Crouch, was dau of James H. and Harriett (Garrett) Crouch. This Crouch family was from the Essex Co. VA area or close by. I do not know if there is any connection between the eastern VA Crouches and the Bedford Co. Crouches.
