Unfortunately, Herb, Jr. passed away this last year.He was the one who could give you considerable history of the Crosson family.Jr. spent a lot of time with Charley and corresponded for years with Esler.Maggie spent several summers with us on the farm.Jr. was also a pilot and collected information on Joe and Marvel. We have pictures of Joe and Marvel with Herb jr. and his siblings as well as Amelia Earhart.I have a magazine article on Joe and Marvel that was published in 1978 that follows the family stories of the two.Charley had the map that was taken from Wiley Posts' plane after the crash in which he was killed and that was passed on to Jr. when Charley died.Charley fought in the Spanish American War.Among the souvenirs he brought back from the war was the barrel of a small cannon.Charley carved beautifully and on anything he could put a knife or chisel to.He engraved the cannon barrel and mounted it, muzzle down, at the head of his tomb.He was quite eccentric, did not like women and would not allow them into his house. He saved everything, newspapers, magazines etc. and stacked them everywhere in his house. He also made his own casket and had it in his house for years prior to his death. The map from Posts' plane was attached to his wall with a heavy chain.Jr's widow lives in Minneapolis, Kansas.Since Jr. was also a writer of short stories, and had some published, she may have an abundance of information.
