Crossmon vs. Crossman in Crown Point, NY

It appears that my gggrandfather Stephen Crossmon changed the spelling of his last name from CrossmAn to CrossmOn. I am looking for information about his forefathers. His father was either named Samuel or Daniel Crossman from the Crown Point, NY area. The family was in that area in the early to mid 1800s.
