I’ve just started tracing my family tree and I’m wondering if anyone is also researching the Crossleys from Halifax in Yorkshire. There seem to be many Crossley families with similar first names, so here are the details of my particular line of enquiry:
My great grandfather, LEWIS Crossley was born in Halifax in 1872 of parents JOSEPH (born c. 1834) and ELIZABETH Crossley (nee Nettleton, b. 1838). Their marriage took place in 1858 in Rochdale, Lancashire.
Besides LEWIS, other children of the marriage were: LILLY (b. 1863), JOHN (b. 1865) and WALTER (b. 1875), all in Halifax.
LEWIS married ANNIE (nee Ickeringill, b. 1871), in 1892 in Halifax and they had 2 daughters, EVELYN in 1898, and ETHEL after they had immigrated to Australia in the early 1900’s. LEWIS Crossley died in Sydney in 1953.
Anyway, I’m hoping to hear from anyone who has connections to any of these ancestors.
