Hi Linda
Where might your ancestors be? They're everywhere! But if you want statistics, in the census of 1891 there were 8290 Crossleys. 46% of them were in Yorkshire, 39% in Lancashire. 202 of the 8290 (2%) were in London, 148 (2%) were in Cheshire, 16 in Northamptonshire, 16 in Bedfordshire, and 3 on the Isle of Man.
Crossleys were in Lisburn, Ireland too; some spelled it Croslegh.
FreeBMD is fantastic for getting birth, marriage and death certificates quickly. Another great genealogy site is www.genesreunited.com
Good luck!
