Benjamin CROSS, Jr., b. 1766 Stafford, CT, d. c1815 Ballston, Saratoga Co., NY. Married 1787 in Conway, MA, Eunice DAVIS (1770-c1809).
Much of what has been known about Benjamin, who died without a probated estate and who is not known to have owned land (unmarked grave as well), was published privately by Ira Brown Cross in his Cross Genealogy (1932). Mr. Cross relied almost exclusively upon family correspondence for his data and came across very little documentary evidence; consequently, what was earlier known about the family is fragmentary. I have, however, been able to verify significant details concerning his children:
1. Benjamin Cross III, 1789-1854 d. Payson, UT. He was a Mormon bishop ordained by Brigham Young, 1851. Poly marriage to Roxana Matilda Powers & Catharine Burgess.
2. Elias Cross, c1791-1824, Ballston Spa, NY. Married Mary (Polly) Hart, d. 1865 Oswego Co., NY.
3. Erastus Cross, 1791-1848, Utica, NY. Married Anne Evans.
4. Ira Cross, c1793-aft 1832, last known of Oswego Co., NY. Married Olive Evarts.
5. Anna Cross, 1796-1829. Probably in full, Eunice Anna. She married Nathaniel Peck Easton (1789-1872) of New Haven, Oswego Co. and later Caughdenoy, Oswego Co. Anna is my matrilineal ancestor.
6. James D. Cross, c1800-1874, Richland, Oswego Co., NY. Married Sarah ---.
7. [Phebe?] Cross, is probably the female born about 1803 in Benjamin's household, 1810.
8. Henry W. Cross, 1807-1874, Richland, NY. Married Eliza Winters.
9. Charles C. Cross, 1809-1891, Amboy, IL. Married (1) Charlotte Short; (2) Hannah Shutts.
