The information provided in the book was incorrect. Francis Marion Cross, Jr. (b-1859), the son of Sr., married Sarah Campbell August 20, 1885. Mary Angelina Wilkins married FM Cross Sr., on July 4, 1877 and Sr. remainded married to her for about thirty years. Thus Sr. could not have married Sarah Campbell. I did verify and find the marriage date for F. M. Cross, Sr., and his first wife, Mary Watson, which was in Coryell County, Texas, on January 20, 1856. This was three days after they had already been married in Comanche County, Texas, which had just been formed that month as a county but had no county seat as I understand. Mary Watson would have died about 1864 in Comanche County. Based on the chronological order, he would have been in Brown County, Texas when he married wife #2, Smith, in 1865. He subsequently spent four years in Navarro County, Texas, 1866-1871. Wife #2 died of tuberculosis in about 1875 in Bell County, Texas. A daughter by this second wife is my great grandmother, Nancy Christine Cross Wilkins. She was married to the brother of FM Cross, Sr., third wife. F. M. Sr., then married Mary Angelina Wilkins, (Thomas Andrew Wilkins’ sister) on July 4, 1877. F. M. stayed in Bell County from 1871 to early 1890’s where the seven children between he and Mary Angelina Wilkins Cross were born. Thank you for your response. Notify Administrator about this message?
