I'm still a little confused:
It looks like;
John CROSS m 1829 Harrison Co, VA Katherine PRUNTY
dau Jane b 1838 (there should have been some other children between 1829 and 1838 - unless Katherine died soon after the marriage and John m Jemima before 1838 - in that case there's a big gap after 1838)
John CROSS 2m ??? Jemima _____
ch:
Sarah [not in 1850 census]
Mary A [not in 1850 census]
Jemima J b 1847 [m Jacob H RICHARDS]
Nancy Ellen b 1850 [m 1864 Benjamin F RICHARDS]
John b 1852
John CROSS 3m 1865 Sarah JONES
ch:
Harriette "Hattie" b 1866
Benjamin F b 1870
So Sarah was third marriage
Do you know when John CROSS married Jemima?
Do you know who Jane married? Her death cert might reveal who her mother was...
Did Sarah and Mary A marry or die by 1850?
