Croshaws in Oneida County New York

I am looking for information on the Croshaw family that lived in Westmoreland New York back in the 1800's. I have found some information on them but cannot see where they came from. The most information that I have is this:

Caleb Croshaw married Louisa Benjamin approx 1821. Their son Samuel married Sarah Surdy at an unknown time and they had children sometime during the 1850's and 1860's. My ggrandfather was their child his name was Ralph Croshaw and I believe that he had a sister named Rena or Renie. Can anyone shed some light on this branch of the Croshaws? My ggrandfather was a regular attendee of a family reunion which my grandmother thought was connected to Robert E. Lee family or the Custis family. Does anyone know of a connection to the Custis family or the Lee family? I appreciate any help that can be given in this matter.
