This Isaac Croom was in Panola County TX in 1870, microfilm roll 1601, p 315 (so far as I know), family 1484, as head of household with new wife (marriage recorded in Panola County marriage records, Book C:22, 15 Nov 1868). The 2 children Ann and James in his household in the 1850 census were the children of his second wife, Elizabeth, and were his stepchildren. (They are proved in Caddo Parish conveyance records. See The Sleuth Book for Genealogists, chapter 11, for the documented case study on them, Isaac, and their mother.) The daughter Louisiana (age 2 in 1850) was Isaac's daughter by his second wife, Elizabeth. (This daughter is proved in Caddo Parish Conveyance Book P:975, dated April 1868.) Yes, this Isaac was born in NC, went to Tennessee, then Texas, then Louisiana, then back to Texas. There may well have been Crooms born in South Carolina, but this one was not. I appreciate your trying to help.
