Hello All,
I am indirectly linked to the CROOKE brothers Rueben and Rodney Richardson Crooke
through the GRANT sisters Matilda and Flora Mary , their brother Daniel Robert Grant is my ggg grandfather. Daniel Sutherland Grant born 1790/91 Brora, Sutherland ,Scotland was married to Jane C. Wassell on 24 April 1819 Lunenburg,NS . They were also in Boston , which is where they both died (residency at the time of Jane's death was 234 Princeton St. Boston, Suffolk,MA).Daniel S. died in 1882 of apoplexy. Jane died sometime before him, I'm still researching information on her.
Someone just transcribed the information that has been previously mentioned from the book
"CROOKE An American Family" it is very interesting I must say.
Daniel (Donald) S. and son Daniel R. were both listed in the 1860 Boston Census - Daniel S. was listed as age 69 years.
Daniel R. had named one of his daughters Matilda and my gg grandmother Florence Mary , he had 7 children. I would say he thought highly of his sisters. Daniel R. and brother John left Nova Scotia and entered through Eastport ,ME in 1848 (source: NARA). I'm still trying to find out when the rest of the family left,NS for Boston. (maybe the same time?)
Well folks I guess that's it for now. I thought I'd fill in a bit on the Grant side for the generations that follow .
