I am tracing the Crook family and came across the McCartys. I will tell you what I know. James McCarty was born in Fauquier Co. Virginia,abt. 1756. Nancy and James Crook's children were raised by her brother,Thomas McCarty. Apparently they were orphaned. James McCarty lived in Fairfax Co. Vir.in 1785. Nancy may have been married 2 other times,one being Samuel Adams.James McCarty's father was W.Pope McCarty. I haven't been able to get farther back on the Crook's than James. If you have earilier info I would appreciate it. Thanks. Bonnie
