Recently documents were found naming Thomas
Whitfield's wife and Mary Whitfield's mother
as MARGARET (not Mary Ann) and giving this info:
Thos. Whitfield b. 1807 and Margaret McCann b. 1810
from Dungannon, County Tyrone, NIR. They arrived
in Australia with daughter Ellen age 8, son Henry,6,
and 3 month old Mary (born at sea)- later to
marry William Crook at Mission Santa Clara in
Santa Clara, CA
Thomas Whitfield's parents, Thomas and Ellen, were
living at the time in Dungannon.
