I need help. I'm trying to locate a grave of a Winifred Dora Crook aged abt 15yrs.Winifred beening one of seven children, three unable to walk as a result of rickets, arrived in New York with her parents from England in 1881. Her father John Crook and mother Emma Crook, were unable to get work in New York desided to go west. They arrived by rail in a town near or around the Appalachian Mountains,so we've been told,it may even have been another town along the rail track to San Francisco. The family started up a Bakery shop. It was doing well, then Typhoid Fever broke out and half the town died or left as fast as they could. My greatgrandmother Emma nursed those who were sick,a few survived, but many did not.Winifred, was helping her mother with the nursing. When the fever started to die out,Winifred went down with it,she died very quickly. It was a shock to them all and the family left the town and found their way to New Zealand. So somewere in the USA lies Winifreds remains in a town we have no name for. Daphne.
