Charles Crontz, a well known resident of Brazil, died Wednesday evening at the home at 316 W. Logan St. after an illness of several weeks of complications at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 3 days.The deceased was born in Brooklyn NY and had been a resident of Brazil for 55 years.He is survived by the widow, Phoebe; four daughters, and two sons, Mrs. Ollie Williams, Danville, IL.; Mrs. O.P. Brown, North Terre Haute: Mrs. Ira Stunkard, city; Charles Jr. of East Chicago, and Rufus at home; also a sister, Mrs. Ida Smith, of Brooklyn; also 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon at the M.E. Church, interment Cottage Hill Cemetery.The remains were prepared for burial at Miller & Sons funeral parlors and returned to the home.

Brazil-Rufus Howard Crontz, 94, formerly of Brazil, died Wednesday morning in Indiana State Soldiers Home, West Lafayette. He was born 8-22-1889, in Brazil to Charles and Phoebe James Crontz. He was a WWI veteran and served with the American expeditionary forces in France. He worked as a railroad brakeman and conductor for Central & Eastern Illinois and Pennsylvania railroads, was a member of the Methodist Church, Brazil Eagles Lodge 174 and Veterans of Foreign Wars.Survivors include a sister, Helen Rathfon, Seabrook MD., and a niece. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 A.M. Saturday in Cottage Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald I. Miller officiating. There is no visitation. Miller & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
