The spelling does not matter.....

Please note that the name CRONKRIGHT is just a derivation of CRONKHITE, CRONKITE, CRONKRITE, CONKRIGHT, CONKWRIGHT, CONKHITE, etc. and the spellings do not matter, so check these other boards too if you can't find what you are looking for. I have seen the same family listed in the census records under three or four different spellings - it was just how the census taker heard the name and wrote it down - there were particular lines that broke off at earlier dates than others and tended towards one or another spelling - and then once that spelling became standarized, decided to stick with CRONKRIGHT over say CRONKHITE; however, no matter how you spell it, there is a 99.9999% chance that any CRONKRIGHT in the US is descended from Harck Syboutszen and Wyntje Theunis out of New Amsterdam, New Netherlands (NYC, NY) in the mid 1600's.... FYI. Vickie
