Vickie, I too am pursuing the Cronkhite line. My ggreatgrandfather was Francis Cronkhite. In a 1850 Wyoming Co., N.Y. Census there is a listing of Tunis and Caroline Cronkhite along with their children, Francis 21, Spencer 17, Mary A. 17, Byron 12, and Maria 7. In court documents that we have Spencer and Caroline sold land to Francis in Ionia Co. Mi. to Francis in 1860 as well as did Byron. Francis and Byron both went into the Civil War from Ionia co., Mi. and both died in the War. Francis did write a letter to his wife from the War (of which we have in our possession) asking about the whereabouts of Spencer. Also there is a listing of Maria in our family Bible as a sister of Francis. All of these connections to this family make me think that there is indeed a close relationship to Tunis and Caroline Cronkhite. Do you have any information on any of these people and how they connect to the rest of the Cronkhite family? Any help would be most appreciated. Many thanks. Vic Cronkite v&
