Using yDNA testing for Genealogical purposes
Recently my husband submitted a 37 marker yDNA test for our Cronan genealogy, and we posted our results at the Cronin surname site" http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/cronin/patshttp://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/cronin/pats
Our earliest known ancestor is believed to be James Cronan b. CA 1760 Ireland, and we have documentation from James S. Cronan B. 1800NC--D. after 1880 Lumpkin Co., GA.
We have been trying to trace my husband's immigrant Cronan ancestor for several years and decided to try the DNA testing to see if that would help. We did not think we were kin to those who spelled their name as Cronin, but the 37 marker ydna test shows we are. Can the yDNA test help you with your genealogy?
At this time there are only a few of us in the Cronin Surname group, and I hope others will test. Read more about it athttps://www.familytreedna.com/group-join.aspx?Group=Cronin
