Ellen, I've exchanged some information with Shirley Olson and saw your query. How are you related to James Cron?
James Cron married Charlotte Amelia Heacock 06 Aug 1855 in County Grey, Ontario, Canada. They had 9 children:John Shirgby (m Charlotte M. Travis), William Leslie (m Florence J. ??), Isabell M. (m ?? Bacon), Edward Fercus (never married), Barton Wilford (m Mabel Louise Summerhayes), Harrison J. (never married - died WWI in France - body was not shipped to US), Thomas Foster (died in infancy), Lavina Magdalena (died in infancy), and Allan Kenneth (haven't found this one, yet).
My grandmother, Amelia Elizabeth Cron was the daughter of Barton and Mabel.
James, Charlotte, Edward, Thomas and Lavina are buried at West Union Cemetery, Traer, Tama Co, IA.Charlotte was killed in a buggy/train accident; James died of natural causes a short time later.Barton and Harrison (marker only) are buried at Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Linn Co, IA.
Based on the place of birth for the 9 children, it appears the family left Grey Co, Ontario, Canada between 1859 and 1863, removing to Whiteside Co, IL.The family appears to have left IL between 1867 and 1872, removing to a farm not far from Traer, Tama Co, IA.
I have some information on the Heacock family, but most of it 'second hand', so would appreciate info on Heacocks and Crons.
Thanks!
