David P. Cromer

Today I was looking at the gravemarker of a family connection named Andy P. Flynn at the Venard Cemetery in Cass Co, Indiana. I noticed there was another name carved on the back side of the stone and that there was old cement on the end of the stone where there shouldn't have been any.

Since the stone was set only by being sunk into the soil, we loosened it to see the other name on back. It was Mark, son of D. P. and E. J. Cromer. On the underside was carved David P. Cromer. We put everything back the after examining the stone. Mark Cromer died in 1882 aged 19 years (as best as I could read through the soil).

It appeared that the Cromer tombstone had been recycled and used on the Flynn plot.

Does anyone know these Cromers?
