Hi Barry Thanks for filling in some of my gaps too. The children of David and Alexis CROMAR (nee McDOUGALL) that I have are: Louisa Mitchell CROMAR b. 6 Oct 1852, Gorbals, Glasgow Archibald Gough CROMAR b. 13 Jun 1855, Tradeston, Glasgow Alexander CROMAR b. 6 Apr 1857 Hutchensontown, Glasgow but died age 1 in 1858 also Hutchensontown Alexander CROMAR b. 30 Jun 1858, Hutchensontwon George CROMAR b. 30 Jun 1858, Hutchensontwon but died age 0 in 1858 also Hutchensontown Alexis CROMAR b. 12 Jun 1860 Hutchensontwon died 1861 also Hut. John McDougal CROMAR b. 24 Apr 1862 Govan, Glasgow Napier CROMAR b. 9 Nov 1863 Cathcart, Renfrewshire Alexis CROMAR b. 30 Oct 1866, Cathcart, Renfrewshire George CROMAR b. 18 Nov 1867 Cathcart, Renfrewshire So where we don't fit is on the birth date of Alexander. It looks as though the first Alexander died and twins were born later that year of which one was called Alexander and the other George (who also died in infancy), but you would need the birth certs to make sure. The same happened with the 2 Alexis CROMARs. I am still researching the family but it appears that David and Alexander left Britain before 1881 as I can't find them on the census whereas John CROMAR is on the 1881 census age 19 living with his mother. I have only a copy of David's 1855 birth cert and can email it to you if you can give me an email address. The family did have some ties with Canada around the 1870's. The CROMAR brother's aunt, Fanny McLARTY nee McDOUGALL was in Toronto from about 1874 - 1877 as her husband was a ship's engineer and 2 of her children were born there. I also think that their cousin Richard TURNER was in Canada around 1860's as he is missing from all census and is later shown as a Fur Trader in London. Do you know why the CROMAR brothers went to Canada? Anyway, I have many docs that I could send you including the OPRs for Alexis McDougall's christening and those of her mother, father and grandparents. Still researching her great grandparents. I also have the census recors for Alexis and David CROMAR from 1841 to their deaths and for their surviving children in the UK after that. I wasn't able to find which ship they sailed on but there are 3 entries for a David CROMAR through New York (I cannot access the dates unfortunately) Please let me know what you would like.
