John Rees CROKER was second son son of LtCol William CROKER CB by Elizabeth STOKES whom he married 14 July 1819 at Madras and was born born 3 March 1821. (See Bourks Irish Families CROKER of Ballyneguard). John Rees CROKER was also in the Army joining the 6th Regiment of Foot as an Ensign on 25 December 1838 and promoted to Lieutenant in the 86th Regiment in 1842 and to Captain there 15 March 1853. He saw active service in Aden in 1841. He married Eleanor CURTEIS on 1 August 1850 at St Luke's Chelsea when the witnesses were Edward and Eleanor CURTEIS perhaps her parents. The sale of his commission is reported in the 1856 Army List under the name CREKER(sic).
I would be interested in hearing more about Harry Bell CROKER and his descendents.
