Note: There are two parishes named Ulceby in Lincolnshire. The one in the north, near the River Humber, has been variously called Ulceby by Barton, Ulceby by Brocklesby and even Ulceby cum Grisby. The other one is between Alford and Spilsby.
Ulceby is a parish and village at the north end of the Lincolnshire Wolds, seven miles SSE of Barton and about the same distance northeast of Brigg. Wootton parish lies to the northwest and the two Killingholme parishes to the northeast. The Humberside International Airport lies just a few miles due south. The parish covers about 3,700 acres and includes the hamlet of Ulceby Skitter 1.5 mile east of the village.

Note: Great Carlton is a village and a parish just 6 miles southeast of Louth. Gayton-le-Marsh parish is to the south and Manby parish to the northwest. The parish covers about 2,300 acres. For governance, the parish was in the Marsh division of the ancient Louth Eske Wapentake in the East Lindsey district in the parts of Lindsey. For today's governance, see the East Lindsey District Council. After the Poor Law Act of 1834, the parish was in the Louth Poorlaw Union.
