I am a descendant of Joseph Crowfoot (born February 26, 1630/31 in Tarvin, Cheshire, England and died on April 8, 1678 in Springfield, Massachusetts. He married Mary Hilliard in Springfiled, MA in 1658. They had 9 children ... along my line, four generations later, the son of David Crowfoot and Rachel ??? was named James Crofoot (born 1761). Anyway, it looks like four generations from Joseph is when the "w" was dropped on my line.
