Thanks for the tip about the James Crockett born about 1857 who had become a rail road laborer in Nebraska.I followed up on this info and believe this James to be the son of Radford and Elvina Crockett.James and Sarah are in the 1880 census of Dawson County, the 1885 state census of Nebraska has James in North Platte City, also Sarah J, Henry and Alice. The next census available is th 1900 census and as you mentioned Sarah and the children are back in Haralson Co GA and Sarah is listed as a widow.Since she was listed as a widow I tried to find a death or cemetery record for James in NE, but what I found was a 1900 census of a James Crockett listed as a lodger in Chaffee Co Colorado and his occupation was a locamotive engineer. His birth place is listed as Missouri so at first I did not believe this to be my James.Further research found a James Crockett age 52 in the 1910 Chaffee Co CO census listed with daughters Alice age 22 and Lola age 16, his occupation was an engineer.
I lose track of James and Alice after the 1910 census, I also lose track of Warren, James' son after the 1900 census with his mother Sarah in Haralson County. There is a picute of a Warren Crockett in the Georgia Virtual Vault with a group of men in front of the Center Point Store in 1903.James' older son Henry(Harry)William and his family are burried in the Center Point Methodist Cemetery which is in Temple, GA which is on the Haralson County/Carroll County line.
If you have any info on Warren, I would love to hear from you, also any ideas on how to track James with the railroad would be appreciated.
