--- History of Crawford County, Pennsylvania. Warner, Beers & Co.2 vols. 1885"Thomas Crockett was an Irishman and settled in Tract 723, where his son now resides. He was a farmer, and was drowned near Linesville."He settled a 100-acre tract in September 1809 under contract with the Pennsylvania Population Company which brought settlers to Conneaut Twp.He married Esther Johnson, daughter of Alexander Johnson who settled in the northeast corner of Conneaut Twp. Their daughter Nancy married William Graham. Mary Crocket married Luman Lawrence. Lillie A. Crocket married Lewis J. Bollard. The sketch says Thomas Crocket was a soldier of the Revolution (page 826); but this seems unlikely both because there is no record and he would have to have been very much older than Esther, born ca 1780 who was about 17 when they married.
Notes: Thomas Crocket was married to Esther Johnson by the Rev Robert Davidson of Carlisle First Presbyterian, Cumberland Co, PA on 16 Nov 1797.
I believe these earlier references are to Thomas in Cumberland Co, PA
* 1793 and 1795, Dickinson Twp, Thomas Crockett taxed
* 1799, Jan 16: Sale, "on shares, a plantation on Mount Rock in thepossession of Thomas Crocket". [Kline's Carlisle Weekly Gazette]
* 1800 Cumberland Co, PA Thos Crocket, page 237: 10010--00110-0-0
Thomas Crockett is buried at the Crockett Cemetery – a small plot on a hill west of township route 340 (Airport RD) and ½ mile north of township 609. This is a short distance southeast of Conneaut Center, PA, and not too far from Linesville, PA. It is in Linesville Twp.
Thomas died 27 April 1823 at the age of 53 years, 7 months, and 13 days. If he was born in Sept 1769, how could he have been old enough for militia duty during the Rev War (ended 1783)? There is nonetheless a Rev War marker. Esther (Johnson) Crockett died 1 August 1858 78-8-17. A grandson James A Crockett who died 25 Feb 1862 at age 13 years plus isburied there also.
This was his land, and in 1839 was purchased by Thomas junior from the other heirs. (Some heirs are also buried in Conneaut Twp, at other sites.)
A burial of interest has no date or age and is at Baldwin-Snyder cemetery about ¼ mile west of Conneaut Center. It is for Rhoda Crockett, wife of William.

HISTORY OF OHIO, The American Historical Society, Inc., 1925 Volume IV, page 274
ERNEST CROCKETT, M.D.One of the prominent members of his profession at Ashtabula, Dr. Ernest Crockett has practiced there over twenty years. He is a native of Ashtabula county, representing the third generation of his family here.
Doctor Crockett was born at Dorset, in Ashtabula county, July 9, 1873. His grandfather, William Crockett, was born in Ireland, in 1806, of Scotch-Irish ancestry, and as a young man came to American and settled in Pennsylvania, and later moved to Dorset, Ohio, where he engaged in farming.
He died at Dorset in 1883, when Doctor Crockett was ten years old. The second wife of William Crockett, and the grandmother of Doctor Crockett, was Sallie Ann Caldwell, a native of Pennsylvania, who died at Dorset, Ohio. William Crockett, Jr., father of Dr. Ernest Crockett, was born in Richmond Township of Ashtabula County, November 10, 1849, was reared there, and as a young man went to Dorset, where he became a well-to-do farmer, and for seventeen years he held the office of township trustee. He was a democrat in politics. His death occurred at Jefferson May 2, 1917. He had retired from the farm and moved to Jefferson in 1915. His first wife was Amelia Brown, who was born at Penn Line, Pennsylvania, in 1852, and died at Dorset July 13, 1873, four days after the birth of her only child, Dr. Ernest Crockett. The second wife of William Crockett was Minerva S. Thompson, who was born at Denmark, Ohio, and now lives at Jefferson. By this marriage there were five children: Dora A., wife of James A. Reed, an employe of the O. & W.P. Dock Company at Ashtabula; Glen S., proprietor of a moving picture theater at Cleveland; Cassie V., wife of Clifford Jerome, a machinist at Jefferson, Ohio; Homer, who died when four years old, and another son who died in infancy.
Dr. Ernest Crockett was reared on his father's farm at Dorset, attended the common schools there, and in 1893 graduated from the Jefferson Educational Institute. For two years of his early manhood he was principal of a grammar school at Jefferson, and subsequently entered the medical department of the University of Michigan, at Ann Arbor, where he was graduated Doctor of Medicine in 1900. In the same year he engaged in practice at Ashtabula as a physician and surgeon. He was elected and served two years as coroner of Ashtabula County, and is a member of the Ashtabula County, Ohio State and American Medical associations. During the World war he was a member of the Medical Advisory Board for the district including Ashtabula, Lake and Geauga counties.
Doctor Crockett is a democrat, is a member of Harbor Lodge No. 558, Free and Accepted Masons, at Ashtabula; Western Reserve Chapter No. 8, Royal Arch Masons; Conneaut Council No. 40, Royal and Select Masters, at Conneaut, Ohio; Columbian Commandery No. 52, Knights Templar, at Ashtabula, of which he is past commander; Al Koran Temple of the Mystic Shrine at Cleveland; and Lake Erie Chapter No. 10 of the Eastern Star. Doctor Crockett is also a member of Ashtabula Chamber of commerce. He has acquired considerable real estate in Ashtabula, including his fine residence at 26 Park Street.
At Dorset, Ohio, July 11, 1900, Doctor Crockett married Miss Mamie B. Kennedy, daughter of James and Harriet (Reed) Kennedy, the latter living with Doctor and Mrs. Crockett. The father, who died at Dorset, was a retired farmer. Doctor and Mrs. Crockett are the parents of four children: Amelia, who graduated from the Ashtabula General Hospital; Lorene Alice, a graduate of the Ashtabula High School; Louise Elizabeth, a junior in high school; and Mary Jean, a student in the Junior High School of Ashtabula.

Ms Bierman also wrote: It should read that the second wife of William CROCKETT from Crawford Co., PA was Sally Ann CADWELL (Cole) widow of Ahira COLE who was the son of Ezra COLE and Mercy HADLOCK who arrived from Cayuga Co., NY. about 1826.Sally Ann CADWELL was born in Farmington, Hartford Co., CT in 1814 and came to Ashtabula Co., Ohio in 1822 with her parents Horace and Sally CADWELL who are both buried in Pandanaram Cemetery in Ohio. The CADWELL family was well represented in Hartford Co., CT from the mid 1600's and intermarried into many of the founding families.

I agree that William was born in Crawford Co, PA as a son of Thomas Crockett. I do not believe that: "His grandfather, William Crockett, was born in Ireland, in 1806, of Scotch-Irish ancestry, and as a young man came to American and settled in Pennsylvania, and later moved to Dorset, Ohio, where he engaged in farming."
Original Thomas seems to be independent of other Crockets found in PA.
