Thank you for the information.....seems my line was near yours for a while at least.1774 John Teeter (wife Eve Turney) was on Beaver Creek closer to Abingdon - today their property is still in Virginia, sister Mary Turney Beeler (husband John Valentine Beeler) were also on Beaver Creek but their land today is in TN.....while my Henry Turney and brother Peter Turney were also on Beaver Creek, but today their property would fall in Tennessee. In other words, these 4 siblings were in same area in 1774.
Teeters stayed there, Beelers moved a bit west - near Bean's Station area.Henry and Peter Turney were also near Bean's Station (and Hawkins Co TN), Henry for a while was at Ft Nashborough and ended up near the present Dekalb/Cannon Co TN line, while Peter Turney ended up in Smith Co TN near Carthage.
What is so interesting, later in 1840s or so a Crockett family was near Camden in Benton Co TN and married into some of mine, and they all moved to Arkansas in 1870s.So this whole mess of Turney, Crockett, etc. seem to have traveled same route and by 1870s they were in same small town in Arkansas.
My friends Crockett family seem to have moved into North Carolina near South Carolina line, and they seem to be from Rockbridge Co VA area. She is trying to get it all straight - so many Davids it is difficult. They all seem to have used the same names over and over no matter where they were located. At least now I can place some of them who were early into TN and know they were not hers.
Thank you again.Oh, can you tell me about the Indian raid?
